Getting started

Your launch day checklist

Before you share your store link, verify payments, policies, products, prices, mobile checkout, and the one thing most new sellers forget.

Launch Checklist
4 min read Updated 0001-01-01

Launch day should not be a guessing game. Before you share your store link, run through the same checklist a customer will experience: find the product, understand the offer, check out, and know what happens next.

Use this checklist before posting your store publicly.

1. Homepage check

Your homepage should make the offer obvious within a few seconds.

Confirm:

  • The business name is clear.
  • The headline says what you sell.
  • The first button points to the main action.
  • Customers can reach products or services quickly.
  • The page looks good on mobile.
  • There is no placeholder text.

If a stranger cannot tell what you sell, rewrite the top section before launching.

2. Product and price check

For each product or offer, confirm:

  • Product name is clear.
  • Price is correct.
  • Photos or previews are visible.
  • Description explains what is included.
  • Options and variants work.
  • Inventory or availability is accurate.
  • Any limits are stated clearly.

Do not assume customers will message you with questions. The page should answer the obvious ones.

3. Payment check

Before launching, verify:

  • Payment provider is connected.
  • Checkout opens correctly.
  • Taxes, shipping, or pickup settings appear as expected.
  • You know where payouts will go.
  • You know how refunding works.
  • Order notifications go to the right email.

This is the most important launch-day item. A beautiful store that cannot accept payment is not ready.

4. Fulfillment check

The customer should know how they get the order.

Check the correct flow:

Shipping:

  • Shipping cost is shown.
  • Processing time is clear.
  • Packaging is ready.
  • You know how labels will be created.

Local pickup:

  • Pickup address or area is clear.
  • Pickup hours are listed.
  • Customer knows whether to wait for a ready email.

Digital downloads:

  • File is uploaded.
  • File type is listed.
  • Download instructions are clear.
  • Support contact is available.

Services or custom work:

  • Customer knows the next step.
  • Timeline is clear.
  • Intake questions are included if needed.

5. Policy check

Add simple, specific policy pages or sections:

  • Shipping or pickup policy.
  • Return/refund policy.
  • Contact information.
  • Privacy policy if collecting customer information.
  • Custom order terms if relevant.

The goal is not to sound complicated. The goal is to reduce confusion.

6. Mobile check

Most first visitors may come from social posts, messages, or email links. That means mobile matters.

On your phone, check:

  • Homepage loads quickly.
  • Buttons are easy to tap.
  • Product photos are not cropped badly.
  • Checkout fields are usable.
  • Text is readable.
  • Navigation is not confusing.

7. Test order check

If your setup allows test orders, place one. If not, walk through the checkout as far as possible.

Confirm:

  • Customer confirmation appears.
  • Seller notification arrives.
  • Order details are correct.
  • Fulfillment details are visible.
  • Post-purchase email makes sense.

The one thing most sellers forget

Most new sellers forget the post-purchase experience. After the customer buys, they should know what happens next.

Add a short message such as:

"Thanks for your order. You will receive a confirmation email shortly. We will notify you when your order ships or is ready for pickup."

Bottom line

Launch after the store can explain, sell, accept payment, and fulfill one order correctly. You can improve everything else after the first real customer experience works.

Frequently asked questions

Should I launch before every product is added?

Yes, if your first offer is complete and checkout works. A smaller finished store is better than a large unfinished one.

What should I test first?

Test mobile checkout, payment setup, order notification, and fulfillment instructions first.

What if I find a small typo on launch day?

Fix it if it affects trust or clarity. Do not delay launch for cosmetic perfection.
